Has Mohamed Salah won AFCON before?

Mohamed Salah has yet to win a major title for Egypt, with his best international achievement coming as a runner-up in the Africa Cup of Nations twice: in 2021 against Senegal and in 2017 against Cameroon.

He is reeling to win the trophy for the first time in Ivory Coast next year.

Has Mohamed Salah won AFCON before?

Salah is presently the second-highest goal scorer in Egypt’s history, trailing only Hossam Hassan, who has 68 goals in 176 games.

Salah suffered misery in the 2021 Afcon final against Senegal, losing 4-2 in a penalty shootout after the match had ended 0-0 in regulation time.

The forward was saved to take the fifth penalty, which is normally considered the most vital and decisive penalty, but Egypt had already missed two penalties by the time Senegal’s Sadio Mane stepped up to take the fifth (and winning) penalty.

Salah scored two goals for Egypt in the Afcon 2021, and his Liverpool teammate Mane consoled him after the final defeat.

Salah scored two goals and added two assists at the 2017 Afcon competition, although his team was defeated 2-1 in the final.

For his contributions, he was awarded to the CAF Team of the Tournament.
