He is the son of Desmond “Des” Styles, a finance worker, and Anne Twist, a landlady (née Selley, formerly Cox). As a child, he moved with his parents and older sister, Gemma, to Holmes Chapel, a village in Cheshire. His parents split up when he was 7 years old.
John Cox, his mother’s business partner, remarried her later, but they divorced years later. Styles married Robin Twist in 2013, and the two of them had two children: Mike, an older stepbrother, and Amy, a stepsister. In 2017, Robin Twist succumbed to cancer.
