The name H.E.R., which stands for “Having Everything Revealed,” was given to Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson on June 27, 1997. She is an American singer, composer, and musician.

She covered Aretha Franklin’s “Freeway of Love” at the renowned Apollo Theater in New York City on September 23, 2007, when she was ten years old and performed as Gabi Wilson on the Today Show. At the age of 9, she made her acting debut as a lead in the Nickelodeon television movie School Gyrls.

She further appeared on The View, Good Morning America, and Maury in 2007. Around this time, she was handled by Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment.

Along with nominations for a Golden Globe Award, three American Music Awards, and four Billboard Music Awards, she has won various accolades, including an Academy Award, a Children’s and Family Emmy Award, and five Grammy Awards.

She won the Grammy for Song of the Year for “I Can’t Breathe” in 2021. Her song “Fight for You,” which appeared in the movie Judas and the Black Messiah, received the Academy Award that year for Best Original Song and the Grammy Award the following year for Best Traditional R&B Performance. Back of My Mind, her first full-length album was released in June 2021.
