News reaching us suggests a group of unidentified gunmen has attacked a Baptist church in the Chikun area of Kaduna State, northwest Nigeria, kidnapping 25 worshippers from a Sunday service.
This revelation was made by Reverend Joseph Hayab, the head of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Kaduna State.
Per the reports, the attackers had initially abducted 40 people, but 15 later managed to escape.
This trending worrying issue is the latest mass abduction to be carried out by bandits in northwest and central Nigeria.
These groups typically abduct people for ransom and hold them in hidden camps in vast forests that stretch across the region.
Abductions for ransom and intercommunal violence have increased recently, following a lull during the presidential and governorship elections in February and March.
Last month, gunmen killed 33 people in an attack on a farming village in Kaduna, and earlier this month, ten school children were kidnapped in central Kaduna.
