The caution was prompted by Shatta Wale’s actions towards Livingstone Etse Satekla, also known as Stonebwoy, who has a known disability. During a recent performance, Shatta Wale made derogatory gestures and remarks that were seen as mocking persons with disabilities. The video of the incident quickly circulated on social media, sparking widespread criticism from the public.
In response to the incident, the GSPD released a statement condemning Shatta Wale’s actions and emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and respect for all individuals. The GSPD stressed that mocking persons with disabilities is not only offensive but also a violation of their rights. They called for increased awareness and education to promote inclusivity and respect for individuals, regardless of their abilities.
The GSPD also called on Shatta Wale to retract his statement, remove the video from social media, and apologize to all persons with disabilities and Ghanaians. Mocking persons with disabilities is considered an offense under the law, and the GSPD has urged relevant authorities to investigate the incident and take appropriate action if necessary.
