Gord Lewis, a Canadian musician from Hamilton, Ontario, who passed away in August 2022, is best remembered as the original guitarist of Teenage Head, a well-known Canadian punk rock band in the early 1980s.
Lewis chose the moniker Flamin’ Groovies for the group. While attending Westdale High School in Hamilton, Gord Lewis, Frankie Venom, Steve Mahon, and Nick Stipanitz founded Teenage Head.
In an effort to obtain a record deal in the United States, the band’s Canadian label, Attic Records, organized a series of showcase performances in New York City in September 1980. Lewis was critically hurt in a vehicle accident just a few days before they were supposed to leave, thus the showcase was canceled.
