A 27-year-old Californian Google engineer has been charged with murder after it is purported that he beat his wife, a fellow Google employee, to death and was discovered with bloodstains close to her body.

According to a statement from the Santa Clara county district attorney’s office, Liren Chen was found “spattered with blood” inside his residence, and his wife’s body was in the bedroom. She suffered serious head injuries from blunt force trauma. Chen had a large purple swell in his right hand.

The statement continues, “He had scrapes on his arm and blood on his hands, arms, legs, and clothes. Although the district attorney’s remarks did not name Chen’s wife, numerous media referred to property records and recognized her as Xuanyi Yu.

According to Google, Chen and Xuanyi Yu were working for the tech giant at the time of the incident, as Fox News Digital has confirmed.

Chen faces jail time if found guilty of the murder accusation, according to the district attorney’s office. His court appearance has not yet been possible because he is still in the hospital.

A call from Chen’s acquaintance was made to police on Tuesday, the document states. Chen wasn’t answering his phone or the door, the acquaintance informed the police when they arrived at the scene. Chen, he claimed, was “motionless on his knees, had his hands in the air and was staring blankly” when he was seen inside.

After breaking into the house, the cops apprehended Chen. The body of his wife was discovered in the bedroom.
