Glenda May Jackson CBE, an English actress and politician, lived from 9 May 1936 until 15 June 2023. Her accomplishment of winning two Academy Awards, three Emmy Awards, and a Tony Award made her one of the rare performers to attain the Triple Crown of Acting. In 1978, Queen Elizabeth II awarded her a CBE.

Jackson attended the RADA to further his studies in drama. Marat/Sade (1966) was her Broadway debut performance.

She was nominated for five Laurence Olivier Awards for her performances in the West End productions of Stevie (1977), Antony and Cleopatra (1979), Rose (1980), Strange Interlude (1984), and King Lear (2016). The latter was her return to acting after a 25-year hiatus, and she repeated the role on Broadway in 2019. For her work in the 2018 production of Edward Albee’s Three Tall Women, she took home the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play.

She received two Best Actress Academy Award nominations for her performances in Women in Love (1970) and A Touch of Class (1973). For Sunday Bloody Sunday (1971), she was given the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

She also had important appearances in Hedda (1975), The Incredible Sarah (1976), Mary, Queen of Scots (1971), and Hopscotch (1980).

For her performance as Elizabeth I in the BBC television series Elizabeth R (1971), she received two Primetime Emmy Awards. Elizabeth Is Missing (2019) earned her the British Academy Television Award for Best Actress.
