Gilberto Ramrez Sánchez, a Mexican boxer, was born on June 19, 1991. He held the WBO super middleweight championship from 2016 to 2019 and was the first boxer from Mexico to achieve that feat.
The Ring, the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board, and BoxRec rank Ramrez as the third-best light heavyweight in the world which is currently in active competition as of November 2022.
In April 2010, Ramrez knocked out veteran Jesus Ayala in the second round in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico (KO).
On December 17, 2010, Ramrez faced the unbeaten Rogelio Medina in an attempt to win the vacant WBC Youth middleweight title. At the Gimnasio German Evers in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico, the altercation took place.
In 2011, Ramrez received a promotion to super-middleweight. Ramrez won his first fight of the year by technical knockout (TKO) in round eight over Antonio Arras, 32.
On December 18, 2014, Top Rank matchmaker Brad Goodman announced that Ramirez would fight Russian boxer Maxim Vlasov (30-1, 15 KOs) on January 24, 2015, at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado, as part of the undercard of Alvarado-Rios.
