Ghanaian rising stars, Gideon Mensah and Elisha Owusu, are set to take the French Ligue 1 by storm in the upcoming 2024-2025 season.
The talented duo’s journey to the top division comes as a result of AJ Auxerre’s triumphant return, securing immediate promotion from Ligue 2. The team solidified their spot in the forthcoming Ligue 1 campaign with a convincing 2-0 victory over Paris Football Club.
Goals from Lassine Sinayoko in the 22nd minute and Ado Onaiwu in the 57th minute sealed the crucial win for Auxerre, extending their lead at the top of the Ligue 2 standings to six points with only two matches remaining in the season. The team is set to face Amiens SC and Concarneau on Friday, May 10th and May 17th, respectively.
Mensah and Owusu have played integral roles in Auxerre’s success, with Mensah operating as a fullback-wingback and providing two assists in his 24 league appearances. Owusu, on the other hand, featured in 32 league games, scoring a goal and providing two assists.
