Frederick Opare-Ansah, a former member of parliament for the Suhum Constituency in the Eastern Region, has backed Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s assertion that COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war are to blame for Ghana’s economic woes.
He asserts that Ghanaians need to start acknowledging that the previously mentioned worldwide health crisis has a terrible effect on the country’s economy.
Speaking on Adom FM’s morning program Dwaso Nsem on Thursday, Mr. Opare-Ansah claimed that President Akufo-Addo and his vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, are providing competent leadership, which is why the economy is progressively improving.
“We have to all admit that COVID-19 has hurt us as a country. We must acknowledge that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has affected us.
“The bright side of this is that government employees are still paid, there has never been a fuel shortage in Ghana, and electricity is always available. We acknowledge that the nation faces challenges, but things are starting to improve,” he remarked.
