John Dramani Mahama, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, has urged the Minority in Parliament to remember its oversight role in holding the government accountable in the run-up to the general elections in 2024.
While acknowledging that the NDC MPs in the 8th Parliament have lived up to expectations, Mr. Mahama says that Ghanaians still have no hope other than them to rein in what he calls the manifest excesses of the Nana Addo-Bawumia-led government.
John Dramani Mahama, the NDC flagbearer, was all praise for the MPs during his speech at the retreat’s concluding ceremony on Saturday in Ho.
The majority of Ghanaians who chose a hung parliament in the 2020 elections, he noted, had been satisfied with the performance of the MPs.
Despite the current crisis facing Ghana under the Nana Addo/Bawumia-led administration, the NDC flagbearer advised the Minority members not to lose sight of the reality that they remain the lifeline of Ghanaians.
