Young Ghanaian talent, Eugene Amankwah, has solidified his place in the Aalborg BK (AaB) first team squad after an impressive preseason showcase. The 19-year-old has been moved up from the AaB Academy to the first team as a result of his outstanding performances.
Amankwah, who only joined the AaB Academy less than a year ago, has been training with the first team regularly as part of a group of academy players making the transition. His versatility has been on display as he has played in both left and right defense positions during the team’s preparation for the upcoming season. Additionally, Amankwah has already earned five international caps while representing Ghana.
James Gow, AaB’s sporting director, commended Amankwah’s progress, stating, “Both Amar and Eugene are developing well and during our preseason both players have taken their chance and shown they have the ability and mentality to compete at this level. Therefore, it is natural for them to take the next step now.”
Amankwah will sport the number 35 jersey for AaB and is under contract until 2028. He joins a first team squad where nine out of 23 players have progressed through AaB’s youth system, highlighting the club’s commitment to nurturing young talent.
