Young Ghanaian talent Edmund Baidoo was the hero for Sogndal as they cruised to a convincing 4-0 victory over Start in the Norwegian 1. Divisjon on Saturday. The match, which took place at the Fosshaugane Campus, saw Sogndal dominate their opponents despite Start enjoying more possession.
The head-to-head record between the two teams favored Start, with 9 wins compared to Sogndal’s 4, along with 6 draws. However, Sogndal showed their superiority right from the start, with captain Per-Egil Flo opening the scoring in the 18th minute. Baidoo, who put in a stellar performance and played for 78 minutes, doubled the lead just before halftime.
In the second half, Erik Flataker continued Sogndal’s dominance by adding two more goals in the 63rd and 65th minutes, securing a comprehensive victory for his side. Another Ghanaian talent, Isaac Twum, came on in the 80th minute to reinforce the team’s strength.
Baidoo, at just 18 years old, has been outstanding this season, making 16 appearances, scoring eight goals, and providing four assists in the 2024 Norwegian 1. Divisjon. Sogndal will be looking to maintain their winning streak when they face Egersund in their next league game on August 3rd.
