Iwan has said Ghanaian media personnel are hypocrites because they have failed to acknowledge that his song, ‘who is bad’ was the pacesetter for dancehall music in Ghana.

The artiste who was speaking to Lexis on Bolgatanga-based A1Radio said:“Media men in Ghana are hypocrites because they have failed to acknowledge that ‘Who is bad’ was the pacesetter for dancehall music in the country”.

The ‘who is bad’ hit-maker noted that he released that song at the time when the music scene was saturated with hiplife tunes but he brought it and the people accepted the song which broke grounds for dancehall in Ghana.

On his achievement in the music industry, IWAN mentioned that although he has achieved  much, it was through hard work and perseverance because he had minimal opportunities which he optimised to his benefit.

He indicated that winning the Reggae artiste of the year in 2011 was because “if they had not given it to me, the people of Ghana would not have forgiven them so they gave it to me in recognition of my hard work”.

He noted that it was difficult for artiste from the Northern part of the country to hit the limelight but called on all artistes from Northern Ghana to pump more work into their arts.

“It is not only in music but in all spheres of our daily lives. If you are a Northerner the opportunities are not many but with hard work and perseverance, you can make it and hit the limelight and make bigger and greater strides.”

He blamed the industry for promoting what he described as ‘Konko’ songs saying “I blame the industry for carving a niche for songs that are promoted. So they promote those konko songs and leave the songs which have good content”.

Iwan is in the Upper East Region to meet his fan base and to strengthen the bond that exists between him and them and also promote his album ‘Truth’.
