Ghanaian highlife legend George Darko is dead

Mr. George Darko, a well-known highlife musician from Ghana, has gone away.

On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, the pioneer of burger highlife passed away, as reported by Hitz FM host Andy Dosty.

Throughout Ghanaian music circles, some of the most timeless and enduring highlife tracks are those by the late George Darko, who rose to fame in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.

Among his many well-known songs are “Akoo Te brofo,” “Prempremsiwaa,” and “Moni Palava.”

He was also a composer, songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist who marketed “Burger Highlife” all over the world, especially in Germany.

He organized a performance in 2012 to commemorate the genre’s 30 years. A few years ago, Burger Highlife was a full subculture with its own style and way of life.

Over time, the genre found its ideal home in “Highlife,” which is a worldwide genre.

The genre has gained a large following over the years because to artists like Charles Amoah, Lee Duodu, and George Darko.

It is a particular kind of highlife music that was developed by immigrants from Ghana to Germany and is regarded as a German musical genre.
