Ghanaian duo Naeem Mohammed and Phil Ofosu-Ayeh were the standout performers in Halmstads BK’s dominant 4-0 victory over GAIS in the Swedish Allsvenskan over the weekend.
The dynamic pair both played the full 90 minutes, with Mohammed and Ofosu-Ayeh finding the back of the net to help secure the comfortable win for Halmstads BK.
The home team wasted no time in taking the lead, with Villiam Granath scoring just a minute into the match with a powerful right-footed shot from close range. Halmstads BK continued their dominance and doubled their lead in the 34th minute courtesy of Amir Al Ammari’s left-footed strike from outside the box.
Ofosu-Ayeh extended the lead to 3-0 in the 72nd minute, capitalizing on a fast break and an assist from Mohammed to slot the ball home from close range. The Ghanaian midfielder then completed his brace by converting a penalty in stoppage time to make it 4-0.
Mohammed, in particular, has been in fine form this season for Halmstads BK, tallying five goals and two assists in 12 appearances. Ofosu-Ayeh has also been making a positive impact, scoring two goals in his 12 games.
Meanwhile, Ghanaian defender Thomas Boakye made an appearance in the match, coming on as a substitute in the 80th minute to replace Granath, who had earlier found the back of the net.
The impressive performance from the Ghanaian contingent helped Halmstads BK secure the victory and climb up the Swedish Allsvenskan standings as they continue to push for success in the league.
