The Ghanaian international Alidu Seidu has formally agreed to a long-term contract with Ligue 1 team Stade Rennais.
The versatile defender, who was previously with Clermont Foot 63, signs a contract with the team that will keep him there until June 2028.
During his tenure with Clermont, the 23-year-old participated in 89 first-team games, and at the conclusion of the 2020–21 season, he assisted the team in earning promotion from Ligue 2.
In an interview with the team’s website, he emphasized how the transfer would enable him to fulfill his goals on both a personal and professional level.
“Stade Rennais is a great club, this is a great privilege for me. I am a player who does not like to lose, I am combative, I give everything for my colleagues and I am always looking for progression,” he said.
“I am very close to Kamaldeen Sulemana, and I get along very well with Christopher Wooh. The rest of the players, I’ve faced them in Ligue 1, I’m sure we will get on well in the locker room.”
Seidu is the most recent Ghanaian player to sign with the team, joining a list of former Breton players that includes John Mensah, Asamoah Gyan, John Boye, Kamal Issah, and Kamaldeen Sulemana.
