Ghanaian celebs the entertainment industry has lost in 2016

Updated: We have four months to end the year 2016 and the year to me has been turbulent considering how the country has been faced with a host of crisis, including the many death recorded in the entertainment industry.

In all these, the showbiz industry has lost nine lives and this includes the old and younger generation.

Today I stroll you through celebrity deaths recorded so far just in the year 2016.

1. Bob Okala
The comedian lost his life when he collapsed during a live performance in Koforidua. Bob Okala had earlier with other comedians performed as “colonial police” on independence day before his untimely death. Bob Okala will be remembered for his instrumental role he played in concert party in the early 2000s. Okala died in March this year.

2. Nkomode
The industry lost one of its industrious guys to death. Nkomode was also part of the “Key Soap Concert Party” and won the hearts of many. Nkomode died as a result of kidney failure.

3. George Williams
George Williams, a veteran movie star also died in 2016. He died after a short illness. George William will be remembered for his impeccable English language and his love for acting.

4. Danny Nettey
The death of Vertran gospel musician Danny Nettey came as a shock to the country because of how he had touched lives. The musician died on july 15 at Korle Bu Teaching hospital and has since been buried.

5. Daasebre Gyamenah
The highlife legend was also taken away by death in 2016. He died after a short illness. Dasebre was expected to release a gospel song to thank God for his protection when he was jailed but that did not see the day of light. He died at the Korle bu teaching hospital on July 29.

6. MC Flava
Mc Flava also died of kidney failure. He was a star in award-winning TV  drama series, “Efie Wura”. He thanked his facebook fans for praying for him and was optimistic of getting well but gave up the ghost on May 4.

7. Nii Odoi Mensah
He was the president of the actors guild. He died of kidney failure and was flown into the country from China by President Mahama. His funeral saw the attendance of a host of celebrities.

8. George Forest
A celebrated music producer. He has produced a host of songs that have been hit in the past. We woke up to the news of his death today. He died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital after a short illness. He is credited with producing Nana Acheampong’s “Nanka Ebe Ye Wo Den Na Aye Wo Ya”.

9. Kofi Middleton Mends
He was a veteran actor and a lecturer at NAFTI. Kofi died of kidney failure and will be buried in October. He will be remembered for his TV commercial for key soap.

10. Omanhene Pozo
The Hiplife musician passed away on Wednesday, September 21. Omanhene Pozo had been in and out of hospital between November 2015 and February 2016. Doctors admitted him after his condition deteriorated. He was said to be suffering from brain tumour.
