Adwoa Tima Awuah, 22, has advanced to the finals of Miss Germany, a prestigious social impact awards show.
Miss Germany has evolved from a traditional beauty contest to an award for women who take on societal responsibilities and want to participate in a variety of projects that benefit the German people.
Adwoa Tima Awuah is the founder of the Yemiyiefo Foundation (YFM Ghana), a social project in Ghana that aims to help young girls from rural areas complete JHS and start SHS.
Since its inception in 2021, the Yemiyiefo Foundation has awarded 15 full scholarships to girls from underserved communities to attend junior high school (JHS).
More than a thousand junior high school students in Ghana’s Eastern and Central Regions have benefited from workshops the Foundation has organized as part of various life skills programs.
By offering psychosocial services that support immigrants’ integration into German society, Adwoa is currently setting out on a mission to enhance the lives of African immigrants in Germany.
She became the youngest and only black contestant to make it to the final 10 of Miss Germany thanks to this project. The anticipated grand finale is scheduled for February 24 at Europapark in Germany.
I understand how difficult migration and integration can be as a former Ghanaian immigrant living in Germany, particularly in the absence of adequate support.
As Miss Germany, I want to raise awareness of immigration and assimilation through a documentary. Additionally, I work at a psychosocial center providing support to migrants, especially the African community.
This trip goes beyond a simple mission. It’s my connection to my history, my family’s hardships, and all the others who had to leave their comfortable lives behind and start over in Germany,” the woman remarked.
