The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has outlined his vision for Ghana, emphasizing the need for a decisive leader to address critical issues facing the country.
Speaking to Africa Watch magazine, Dr Bawumia highlighted his background as an economist and his commitment to evidence-based policymaking and pragmatic governance.
He expressed his passion for implementing innovative solutions to propel Ghana forward and improve the lives of its citizens based on the challenges and potential he has witnessed as a public servant.
Dr Bawumia, who also serves as the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stressed the importance of embracing digitalization to drive progress and prosperity in Ghana in the rapidly evolving world.
“Digitalization is a fundamental pillar of my vision for the future of our nation,” he stated, underscoring his dedication to leveraging technology for national development.
The Vice President highlighted his commitment to building a future where Ghanaian youth have access to quality education, a vibrant economy, and a society founded on principles of fairness, justice, and equality.
Regarding his presidential campaign and slogan, “It is possible,” Dr Bawumia affirmed his readiness to serve the people of Ghana with integrity, humility, and vision.
He emphasized that his decision to enter politics was driven by a desire to make a positive difference in the lives of Ghanaians and contribute to the country’s development at the highest levels.
Reflecting on his political journey and selection as running mate for four consecutive elections, Dr Bawumia attributed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s choice to trust, loyalty, competence, and compatibility.
He credited his performance as Vice President and his contribution to the party’s victories in 2016 and 2020 as validation of his selection and his capability to lead effectively.
Dr Bawumia concluded by reiterating his commitment to service and his belief in a brighter future for Ghana through collaborative efforts and visionary leadership.
