The Ghana National Gas Company has joined forces with the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) to commission limited mechanized water supply projects in several communities in the Central and Eastern regions.

These projects aim to provide residents with potable and clean water, addressing a critical need for access to safe drinking water.

Beneficiary communities include Assin Amoakrom, Otsenkorang, Obohen, Odumasi, Abowinum, Badukrom, Okuadze, Nkwantakesedo, Addo-Nkwanta, and Pupuni. These projects are set to benefit a population of about 3,800 people in the Eastern Region alone, with a total of approximately 11,315 individuals across both regions.

The Chief Executive Officer of CWSA, Aloysius Adjetey, commended the Ghana National Gas Company for providing GH¢2 million in funding to complete these vital projects. He emphasized the importance of partnerships and donor support in improving access to water supply in rural communities and small towns throughout Ghana.

Adjetey also highlighted the Agency’s commitment to strengthening partnerships to increase investments in water infrastructure and reduce the financial burden on the government. The sustainability of these water schemes is crucial, and nearby water staff have been tasked with overseeing the facilities to ensure their proper management.

In order to protect these projects and prevent sabotage, community members are urged to assist the Agency in safeguarding the components, especially the pipelines. The DCE for Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese, Willi Evans Obiri Awuah, praised the Ghana National Gas Company for their contributions to the nation and expressed a commitment to preserving these water projects for years to come.

The Manager at the CSR Department of Ghana National Gas Company, Anyimah Edomgbole, reiterated the company’s dedication to providing clean water and sanitation to the people of Ghana. In addition to their efforts in the water sector, the company is also involved in supporting sports, education, and health initiatives across the country.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by local chiefs, traditional leaders, the queen mother of Odumasi Obaahemaa Ntifuah, Very Rev. G. G Arkhurt of the Methodist Church, and Dr. Ato Quansah of the Regional Coordinating Council.

This collaboration between the Ghana National Gas Company and CWSA represents a significant step towards improving water access and sanitation in these communities, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for residents in the Central and Eastern regions.
