The Minority leader in Parliament, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has criticized the current government for its handling of Ghana’s economy, labeling it as a “monumental failure.”
Speaking at the NDC 2024 official campaign launch, Dr Ato Forson stated, “Our country is in a mess, a gargantuan mess, a big fat mess. In fact, Ghana is in trouble. This Akufo-Addo and Bawumia government has been a monumental failure.”
He lambasted the government for what he described as eight years of lies, impunity, lawlessness, recklessness, joblessness, hopelessness, hardship, and excessive borrowing. Dr Ato Forson also accused the government of illegal money printing, corruption, wastage, poor governance, and massive uncontrolled corruption.
Despite his scathing criticism, the Minority leader urged Ghanaians to exercise their democratic right by voting for John Mahama in the upcoming elections. He believes that a change in leadership is necessary to address the country’s economic and governance challenges.
Dr Ato Forson highlighted the exodus of Ghanaian doctors working abroad due to poor working conditions under the current government. He further criticized the government for overspending, leading to the bankruptcy of the country and the collapse of institutions like the Bank of Ghana and cocobod.
