Ghana housed in group A for WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship

The WAFU Zone B U17 Championship is fast approaching, and Ghana has been drawn into Group A alongside fierce competitors Cote d’Ivoire and Benin. This highly-anticipated tournament is scheduled to take place in Accra from Wednesday, May 15 to Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

The draw, which was conducted at the WAFU Zone B headquarters on Friday, April 19, 2024, revealed the groupings for the championship. Aside from Ghana, Group A also includes Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Togo, and Niger who will be vying for spots in the semi-finals.

Participating teams will not only be competing for the ultimate prize but also for a chance to secure tickets to the U17 Africa Cup of Nations next year. Host details for the U17 AFCON are yet to be confirmed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

In the previous edition of the tournament, Nigeria faced off against Burkina Faso in the final at the Robert Champroux stadium in Cote d’Ivoire. The Nigerian team, also known as the Golden Eagles, emerged victorious with a 2-1 win, claiming the championship title.
