Ghana government’s delivery tracker commendable but lacks transparency – CenPOA

The recent launch of the performance tracker by the Government of Ghana has been praised for its innovative approach to providing information on government infrastructural development. The tracker, known as “Delivering Our Promise”, can be accessed on www.deliverytracker.gov.gh and offers detailed data on ongoing and completed projects since 2017.

Although the tracker has been lauded for its user-friendly interface and accessibility, some concerns have been raised by the Center for Policy Analysis (CenPOA) after a thorough review.

  1. One concern is the lack of information on project timelines, making it difficult to measure the government’s exclusive efforts and contributions. Additionally, project costs and sources of funding are not included, which are crucial for assessing the value for money of reported projects.
  2. Furthermore, the tracker includes duplicate entries for related projects and some privately funded projects, leading to data inaccuracies.

Despite these challenges, CenPOA commends the government for its commitment to accountability and civic engagement through the performance tracker. They recommend that more detailed information be provided on reported projects and suggest expanding the scope to include all government projects.
