The Ghana National Gas Company has taken a proactive step in addressing the water crisis in the Kpandai district of the Northern Region by commissioning nine mechanized boreholes in 11 communities.
The commissioning ceremony, held at the College of Community Health Nursing in Nkanchina, was met with great enthusiasm and appreciation from the local residents.
These boreholes are a crucial intervention to provide easy access to clean water for the communities, which include Nkanchina Nursing College, Mbowura, Kabeso, Kachinke, Kakpeni, Jamboai, Jirandogo, Loloto, and Lonto. The College of Community Health Nursing, which trains nurses to bridge healthcare gaps in the region, will also benefit from this initiative.
Richard Nyamah, a candidate in the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primary in the Kpandai constituency, commended the efforts of the gas company in providing water to these communities. He encouraged the nursing students to prioritize their studies now that they no longer have to travel long distances to fetch water from the Oti River.
The Principal of the College of Community Health Nursing, Abdul Karim A. Hussein, called on corporate bodies to support the school as it embarks on a new diploma programme. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the boreholes for future generations to benefit from this essential resource.
During the event, the Mbowura community expressed their gratitude to Ghana Gas and Richard Nyamah for fulfilling their promise to provide water to the district. The commissioning ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including the Chief of Nkanchina, Nana Okumankwi I, queen mothers, traditional leaders, party members, MCEs, and the local residents.
This initiative demonstrates the commitment of the Ghana National Gas Company to improving the lives of people in the Kpandai district and ensuring access to clean water for all.
