The Ghana Football Association has good news for midfielder Majeed Ashimeru, who was injured during Ghana’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Group B match against Egypt.
Despite concerns about his contribution to the team, Ashimeru does not seem to have sustained any serious injuries, according to the Ghana FA.
“Majeed Ashimeru has made significant progress on the injury he sustained during the Africa Cup of Nations group B game against Egypt on Thursday,” the statement read. “The midfielder picked up a knock in the first half and was later substituted in the second half.”
“After the game, the medical staff examined him in great detail, and on Friday, additional tests were conducted. The medical staff is hopeful about his progress and will continue to assess him before training on Saturday afternoon.”
The Anderlecht player, who started the opening two games against Egypt and Cape Verde, is anticipated to play for Ghana for the third consecutive time.
Despite having a goal disallowed in the opening game, Ashimeru had a fantastic performance in the exciting 2-2 match against Egypt. The Black Stars need to defeat Mozambique to triumph and move on to the round of 16. His goal is to be fit for that game.
