The Ghana Football Association has revealed the procedure for choosing the next Black Stars coach, appointing a five-person search committee to evaluate applicants and recommend candidates to the Executive Council for approval.
This follows the dismissal of Chris Hughton as the Black Stars coach on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.
The search committee will be led by Ghana Football Association vice president Mark Addo. Ace Ankomah (Esq.), a professor and practicing attorney, will be the vice chairman of the search committee.
Opoku Nti, a legend in Ghanaian football; William Caesar Kartey, chief director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports; and Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah, director of coaching education for the GFA, are among the other members of the committee.
Within the next three weeks, the Executive Council will review the search committee’s recommendation for the next coach of the Black Stars.
A detailed job description for the head coach position of the Black Stars will be made available soon. Still, here’s a summary of what needs to happen to select the next head coach:
“The potential Head Coach should be a proven winner in coaching Top Men’s National Team or Club football.”
“Must have a football philosophy that aligns or compliments our DNA.”
“Must hold the highest football license in the world with over 15 years of coaching experience”
“Proven track record in team reconstruction, organization, and development of young talent.”
“Proven disciplinarian, tactician and leadership skills”
