After 12 years together, Shakira and Gerard Piqué have announced their separation.
The Colombian singer and Spanish soccer star, who have two children together, announced the news in a joint statement, requesting that their privacy be respected.

Despite spending several great moments together, the couple never married.
In the midst of all of this new information, one of the issues that fans of both the singer and the soccer star are asking is why they never married, a topic that has been posed to both of them on numerous occasions.
Pique has never shied away from the subject, and the most recent time he discussed why he hasn’t married Shakira was during an interview with ex-footballer and former Manchester United teammate Gary Neville.
“I saw a comment she made where she indicated she’d rather not get married, and you keep seeing her as forbidden fruit to keep you on your toes,” Neville said to the Barcelona defender.
Neville received a response from Gerard.
“Yes, it’s his way of thinking. We don’t feel the need to be married because we like where we are now and how we function as a pair.”
Neville even suggested that Pique had proposed to the Colombian but she had declined, to which the Spaniard retorted angrily.
“No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no If that were the case, I would tell you that I have no objections, but that is not the case.”
