George Glenn Jones was born in Saratoga, Texas,. Along with his brother and five sisters, he was raised in Colmesneil, Texas, in the Big Thicket region of southeast Texas.
One of the best harmony singers in country music, Jones has a long career and a large body of duets to his credit. However well-known his songs with Tammy Wynette are, Jones stated in his memoirs that he thought his duets with Melba Montgomery were his greatest.
