George Timothy Clooney was born on May 6, 1961, in Lexington, Kentucky. He is of German, English, and Irish descent. Clooney attended Augusta High School and spent the majority of his formative years there. He tried out for the Cincinnati Reds but was not given a contract despite being very active in sports like baseball and basketball.

Clooney started pursuing acting after his cousin, Miguel Ferrer, secured him a supporting role in a big-budget movie. Ace played his first significant part in the sitcom ER (1984).

Soon after, further characters were cast, such as Booker Brooks, a supervisor on Roseanne (1988), Detective James Falconer on Sisters, and George Burnett, the dashing handyman from The Facts of Life. The award-winning drama series ER, which starred Anthony Edwards, Noah Wyle, and Julianna Margulies, was where Clooney made his breakthrough as Dr. Doug Ross.

Nina Bruce, a former beauty pageant contestant, and Nick Clooney, a former anchorman and television host are Clooney’s parents. Adelia Clooney is Clooney’s older sister.

From 1989 through 1993, Clooney was wed to the actress Talia Balsam. Although he maintained his perfect bachelor status for some time, Clooney had a number of well-known romances, including one with former WWE wrestler Stacy Keibler. He wed the activist and lawyer Amal Clooney in 2014, and the two of them have twins.
