Former Ghana Football Association vice president, George Afriyie, has expressed uncertainty about his plans to challenge for the presidential seat again.
Afriyie’s previous ambitions to lead the football governing body were thwarted last year when he was disqualified ahead of the election, which was eventually won by Kurt Okraku.
Despite taking the decision to appeal his disqualification to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), Afriyie’s case was dismissed earlier this month. Following this latest development, he has revealed that he is unsure about vying for the post again.
Speaking to Graphic Sports, Afriyie said, “Nobody knows tomorrow. I have not taken any decision yet, but in life, you just have to focus and do what you want to do, and then when there is time and opportunity to do anything, why not.” On the dismissal of his appeal, he added, “I just gave my opinion, and I said per what the CAS ruling is, I have accepted it, so we move.”
Afriyie previously served as the vice president of the association under Kwesi Nyantakyi. His future in Ghanaian football remains uncertain as he contemplates his next steps in the wake of the CAS ruling.
