Geoff Bryan was a former Lancaster and Morecambe mayor who died on April 3, 2022.
He governed Heysham North for 20 years and served as mayor from 1982 to 1983.
Geoff’s soul was in Morecambe, and he fought diligently as a councilor to revive the resort’s fortunes while it was in trouble.
But, as mayor, he also loved the district and served as an excellent spokesman for the city council.
During his presidency, a terrible storm in January 1983 caused significant flooding, affecting hundreds of private houses and businesses in Morecambe.
Geoff took the initiative and quickly started a special town-wide campaign to assist the victims.
When he withdrew from the council in 1987, he was designated an honorary alderman and served as a Justice of the Peace.
