Anthony Walker, the well-known “Baby Gap” from the Gap Band, passed away. TMZ has acquired knowledge.

Anthony Walker’s younger brother, Dr. Eric Walker, tells TMZ that the artist and vocalist passed away at an Ohio hospital on Monday following complications from a neck operation he was having.

Anthony was performing with GapX, a group made up of other ex-Gap Band members, just before he passed away. He was sixty years old.

It’s unclear exactly what went wrong or what the treatment was intended to fix, but we do know Anthony died as a result. The artist’s life will be honored later this week in his homeland of Chicago, according to his sibling.

Charlie, Ronnie, and Robert Wilson, brothers, were the core members of the Tulsa band that became known as The Gap Band in 1967. But the band didn’t really take off until they signed a record deal with Mercury Records in 1979.

Chicago native Anthony Walker joined The Gap Band the same year, first helping out as a choreographer and dancer before later becoming a songwriter. He spent 23 years touring and performing with the group.

Walker was a dancer who started the renowned breakdancing ensemble Tidal Wave in the 1970s. In the early 1980s, Walker taught moonwalking and breakdancing at John Travolta’s dance class. Walker was a Disney choreographer as well.

Anthony walker never shared any information about his family before and at the time of his passing. Details including the identity of his wife and children are out of the  public notice. However, there is no information proving whether Walker was married and had children before his demise.
