The son of devoted Roman Catholics, Gabriel James Byrne was born on May 12, 1950, in Walkinstown, Dublin, Ireland. He grew up to become an Irish actor, director, producer, screenwriter, and audiobook narrator.
Prior to joining London’s Royal Court Theatre in 1979, his acting career got its start in the Focus Theatre. In the Irish drama series The Riordans and its spin-off program Bracken, Byrne made his acting debut.
