Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a prominent figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), responded to President Akufo-Addo’s recent ministerial reorganization on Wednesday, February 14.
Gabby explicitly mentioned the hiring of a new Finance Minister on social media. Mohammed Amin Adam has been designated as Ken Ofori-Atta’s successor.
There had been calls for Mr. Ofori-Atta’s resignation because of alleged financial issues throughout his term.
Gabby thanked Amin Adam in a post on X, describing him as a well-prepared, capable, modest, and politically aware person.
He affirmed his belief that Adam can handle the nation’s finances well, pointing out that the public’s reaction to Adam’s nomination was overwhelmingly positive.
After holding the position of Finance Minister for a record-breaking seven years, Ken Ofori-Atta has been reclassified as a Presidential Advisor.
As part of Ghana’s continuous participation in the US$3 billion International Monetary Fund (IMF) program, Amin Adam, who formerly served as Minister of State in the Finance Ministry, will now oversee the government’s talks with creditors.
