Private legal practitioner Oliver Barker-Vormawor has attacked Ghana’s judicial system. Barker Vormawor said he doesn’t understand why the troubled comedian was granted bail and kept in prison while still on trial.
He stated that once an individual is a well-known figure who can be identified, he ought to be allowed bail and to report to the police as needed.
In a Twitter message, while asking why Funny Face is still in prison, the popular activist criticized the rejection to give him bail as unjust and ludicrous.
“The fact that Funny Face is still in prison cells demonstrates how ridiculous our criminal justice system is.” A court should only reject a defendant bail if there is a serious risk that they would fail to appear for trial. Funny Face is well-known in this country. He’s not a flight risk. There is no reason why he will not appear for trial.
“Why do we continue to use bail as a punishment? The individual is already on trial. So, what’s the point of the remand? Sometimes I wonder what judges’ genuine interests are. So devoid of any human empathy or even regard for the sacredness of constitutional rights. Why do i even bother? He said.
