The inaugural edition of the Ghana Comedy Awards took place on Saturday, April 20, at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly [AMA] auditorium.
The event was a celebration of Ghanaian comedians and their contributions to the comedy industry.
Notable comedians such as Lekzy Decomic, Clemento Suarez, OB Amponsah, AKA Ebenezer, and many others were honored during the ceremony. Additionally, former Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Fritz Baffour, received a special honorary award in recognition of his support for the comedy industry.
The event was filled with vibrant performances from artists like Jupitar, Apaatse, Alapta Wan, and others, who added to the lively mood of the evening with their entertaining acts.
Several awards were presented in various categories, with winners including Tilapia the Cartoonist for Comic Cartoonist/Animator of the Year, MJ the Comedian for Comedy Skit Act of the Year, and OB Amponsah for Most Popular Comedian of the Year, among others.
The award ceremony also recognized emerging talents in the comedy scene, with Kwaku Forty winning Comedy Discovery of the Year and Comedian Manuel receiving the Unsung Comedian of the Year award.
