Former CEO of MASLOC, Sedina Christine Tamakloe Attionu, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Financial and Economic Court 2 of the Accra High Court.
The Director of Operations of the organization, Daniel Axim, was also handed a 5-year jail term. The Judge highlighted the importance of holding accountable those involved in white-collar crimes, mentioning that the court will impose deterrent sentences to discourage similar actions in the future.
The accused individuals were found guilty on multiple counts of stealing, conspiracy to steal, causing financial loss to the state, and money laundering. The sentences will run concurrently, and the Prosecution has been directed to initiate forfeiture proceedings against the assets of the individuals involved.
