Bayern Munich will not pursue Frenkie de Jong of Barcelona in the closing hours of the summer transfer season.
The Manchester United midfielder is thought to have been wanted by the Red Devils since the end of May, and the Netherlands international has been strongly connected with a Camp Nou exit throughout the current market.
However, the addition of Casemiro has strengthened the Red Devils’ midfield, and a late move for De Jong is seen to be extremely improbable given that the team is now negotiating a high-value transfer for Ajax’s Antony.
Bayern were rumored to be interested in De Jong, who was thought to be open to the prospect of moving to the Allianz Arena.
The German champions, however, have reportedly determined that their summer business is finished, so the club won’t be lacking a last-minute move for the Barcelona midfielder, per Sport.
According to the source, Barcelona is willing to let De Jong to continue at Camp Nou in exchange for a 50% pay cut, but there have been no signs that the player is ready to agree to the terms.
The 25-year-old, who has played for his Catalan team in the early stages of the 2022–23 season, has also been linked to Liverpool and Chelsea.
