Fereydun Robert Armisen, an American comedian, actor, writer, producer, and musician, was born on December 4, 1966. Armisen co-created and co-starred in the IFC sketch comedy series Portlandia with his partner in comedy, Carrie Brownstein. Along with Bill Hader and Seth Meyers, he co-created and stars in the mockumentary IFC series Documentary Now! (2015–present), as well as the Showtime comedy series Moonbase 8 (2020–present), which also features John C. Reilly and Tim Heidecker. On The Looney Tunes Show, he provided the voice of Speedy Gonzales (2011–2013).

In addition to being the bandleader and frequent drummer for the Late Night with Seth Meyers house band, The 8G Band, Armisen founded ThunderAnt.com, a website that showcases the comedic sketches produced with Brownstein.

On December 4, 1966, Armisen was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He was a baby when his family relocated to New York, and he spent some time in Brazil as a young man.

His mother, a teacher named Hildegardt Mirabal Level, was born in the Venezuelan city of San Fernando de Apure, and he also has relatives from San Rafael de Atamaica and Apure.

His father, Fereydun Herbert “Fred” Armisen, an IBM employee, was born to a German mother and a Korean-born father in Soltau, Lower Saxony, Germany.
