Frank G. Riggs, aged 89, of Laurel Park, NC, passed away on January 12, 2010, at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, LA, while visiting. Born on August 25, 1920, in Ritzville, WA, he served with the 43rd Infantry Division in the Pacific during WWII.
Frank married Janet Cornell in 1941, and after the war, he worked for Pillsbury Inc., becoming Export Vice-President. A resident of Minnetonka Beach, he served as councilman and mayor.
Following Janet’s death in 1970, Frank married Lucille Charlton in 1971. Post-retirement, they moved to Laurel Park, NC. Frank, known for his woodworking skills, survived by children Holly, Melanie, James, and Cornell, and stepdaughter Patricia Charlton Hickey.
A memorial service was held on January 23, 2010, at the Episcopal Church of St. John in the Wilderness, Flat Rock, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Henderson County Council on Aging or the Interfaith Assistance Ministry.
