Frank Caprio parents: Meet Antonio Caprio and Filomena Caprio
Frank Caprio’s well-known parents are Antonio and Filomena Caprio. Antonio, his father, immigrated from Teano, Italy, and worked as a milkman and fruit vendor. His mother, Filomena, is still an Italian American living in Providence, her family having left Naples, Italy.
In 2021, Caprio established the Filomena Fund in honor of his mother, which provides financial support to individuals who cannot afford to pay for moving infractions. It was launched as a tribute to an Indiana single mother who gave Caprio a little donation and a note. Following her television reading of the letter, Caprio has been inundated with similar donations from people worldwide.
In addition to receiving an honorary doctorate of public service from the University of Rhode Island in 2016, Caprio was also bestowed with honorary doctorates of law from his alma mater, Suffolk University Law School, in 1991 and Providence College in 2008. He was honored with the Producer’s Circle Award at the Rhode Island International Film Festival in August of 2018.
