Hardy decided to record her songs at Pye Records’ studios in London during the height of the British Invasion craze in order to modernize her music and escape the subpar French studios and sound engineers.

In February 1964, while working with producer Tony Hatch, she cut an EP that had a rendition of “Catch a Falling Star” and three versions of her songs, “Find Me a Boy,” “Only Friends,” and “I Wish It Were Me.” (“J’aurais voulu”) was also included. She advertised “Catch a Falling Star” on the television program Ready Steady Go! on February 21.
