Francis Ngannou’s sudden rise in the sport of MMA has been mind-blowing.

Born and raised in Batie, Cameroon, Ngannou had to leave his parents and live with his aunt at the age of 10.

While working in a sand quarry he was approached by several gangs to join them.

However, he declined all those routes and started to pursue boxing at the age of 22.

After a rough couple of years, at the age of 26, he decided to move to Paris, France to pursue the sport professionally.

Things didn’t go to plan as he was jailed for two months upon reaching Europe for illegally crossing the border.

In 2015, after compiling a 5-1 record at the promotion he was signed by the UFC.

So far, he has compiled an 11-2 in the UFC.

The two losses came at the hands of Derrick Lewis and Stipe Miocic.

However, he defeated Stipe Miocic, in their highly anticipated rematch for the UFC heavyweight championship at UFC 260.
