Francis Ngannou, a Cameroonian UFO fighter, was born and reared in the Batié village.
Due to a lack of funds, Ngannou began working in a sand quarry at the age of 12.
He opted to channel his father’s notoriety as a street fighter into something positive by pursuing boxing.
Ngannou began boxing training at the age of 22 over his family’s disapproval.
Ngannou had been training for a year before becoming ill.
He relocated to Paris at 26 to pursue a career in boxing. When Ngannou came to Paris, he had very little. After living on the streets of Paris, he began training for free at the MMA Factory with Fernand Lopez Owonyebe in August 2013.
Ngannou began his MMA career with the French organization 100 percent Fight, as well as several regional European promotions, until 2015 when he made his UFC professional debut.
He has never looked back since.
