Entrepreneur and media star Afua Asantewaa’s project, “Light Up The Streets,” to brighten Accra’s cities, has drawn criticism after it was alleged by media manager Francis Doku that she was using the effort to obtain personal funding.
Doku voiced doubts about Asantewaa’s motivations in a contentious Instagram post that went viral, saying, “Afua Asantewaa is raising funds to help light up our cities.” Excellent concept. However, what happens if she loses her Momo pin after donating?
The project by Afua Asantewaa intends to give communities that don’t currently have street lights much-needed lighting.
Speaking fervently about the project, she emphasized the risks associated with communities living in darkness.
Doku, who doubts the veracity of Asantewaa’s fundraising endeavors, has previously criticized the project, which is set to begin on Friday, March 1, 2024.
Unfazed by the backlash, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum has asked people to support the cause by donating money or street lights and has provided the phone number 0244913613 for donations.
