Prior to her funeral on Monday, September 19, at Westminster Abbey, the Queen will be in repose for four days.
The coffin will be available for public viewing at that time.
Prior to this, on Monday, September 12, the Queen will be laid to rest for 24 hours in St. Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh, where mourners may pay their respects.
On that day, a bank holiday, her state funeral will be attended by her family, elected officials, and foreign leaders.
The Queen’s oak coffin will travel this Sunday from Balmoral, Aberdeenshire, where she passed away, to Edinburgh, arriving at the Palace of Holyroodhouse about 16:00 BST.
It will march with members of the Royal Family to St. Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh on Monday afternoon. A service will be held, and the body will lie in state here for a full day so that people can pay their respects.
Princess Anne will fly back to London with her mother’s body the next day. From Edinburgh Airport, the Queen’s casket will be transported to Buckingham Palace.
It will be transported to Westminster Hall on Wednesday, where it will arrive at 15:00 BST. Before the funeral on Thursday, there will be four clean days of laying in state.
