Kwame Danger, a former Real Tamale United (RTU) player, has suggested a return to the old system of camping domestic players for the Black Stars in order to improve the team’s performance in major tournaments.

In a recent discussion about the declining performance of the national team, Danger emphasized the importance of selecting and camping local players to build a stronger squad. He explained that under the previous system, players would train and play with the Black Stars and then return to their respective clubs for league matches, which helped them to improve and maintain their form.

Speaking on the Ernest Brew Smith Show on YouTube, Danger said, “They have to go back to the old when we were playing they will call Black Stars you will have your team you all will camp in Accra. You will train when you have a match Friday you will return to your team Sunday when you complete your match Monday then you return. So it made our team very tough.”

He further emphasized that this system would allow local players to familiarize themselves with each other’s playing styles and build a cohesive team over time. According to Danger, the current practice of calling up players who have never played together before is hindering the team’s performance on the field.

The Black Stars are scheduled to face Mali and the Central African Republic in June for the qualifying rounds of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. It remains to be seen whether the football authorities will take Danger’s suggestion into consideration to improve the team’s chances in upcoming tournaments.
