In mourning for their deceased former president, Hage Geingob, the people of Namibia have united with former president John Dramani Mahama.
He paid tribute to the former president of Namibia as a “patriot and a freedom fighter,” saying, “My sincere condolences go to the people of Namibia and the wife and family of President Hage Geingob.”
Former President Mahama, who also serves as the leader of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), praised the friendship between Namibia and Ghana while signing the book of condolences at the Namibian Embassy.
Mr. Mahama stated on social media, “We cherish the relationship developed over the years with the people of Namibia.”
He added, “I remember with fond memories the conversations we had about the struggle for freedom from apartheid and the respect held for Ghana’s role in the liberation of Africa. It was a delight to share those moments with you and your wife during our summit in Malta. You have played your role and deserve a rest.”
The leader of the NDC also promised to keep up the hard work to strengthen the positive ties between Namibia and Ghana.
